Bruno Mars Featured In Rio 2 - The Beat Goes On Featurette

As we anxiously await the release of Bruno Mars' first big screen voice over performance in   Rio 2, check him out in this featurette The Beat Goes On.

Bruno will be featured on the soundtrack, with the song "Welcome Back." Along with Bruno, his good friend   Janelle Monae is also featured on the soundtrack. The soundtrack is scheduled to be in stores March 25th. Janelle Monae's "What Is Love" is slated as the first single.

And guess who will also have a track called "It's A Jungle Out Here" on the soundtrack...none other than   Philip Lawrence.

Rio 2 is scheduled to hit US theaters on April 11th, 2014.

The Bruno Mars Super Bowl Half Time Show Experience

Bruno Mars set the stage on fire for his Super Bowl Half Time Show. And I was lucky enough to experience this once in a lifetime moment first hand.

During our first rehearsal with Bruno, we got to see Bruno rehearse one time through in freezing temperatures at night. He was such a G that he even took off his coat to rehearse one time through with his Mickey Mouse sweatshirt on. I for sure wasn't taking off my coat. My toes were already frozen!

Bruno and the Hooligans were so energetic and gracious, giving high 5's to us backstage as they walked to and from the dressing room.

At one of the rehearsals, it was cool to see his brother/drummer Eric stand in for him during the opening drum section. But the most touching moment of all was seeing the workers roll out his drumset for the first time, and noticing the same image of the heart tattoo he has dedicated to   his mother Bernadette  right on the drumset.

But nothing beats the adrenaline rush of seeing the energy and excitement that Bruno and the band exuded on stage during the actual performance. I don't know how it came across on tv but live, you could tell they were having the time of their lives. Check out the performance and a couple pics I managed to snag of the show below.

iHeartRadio Pimps Out Bruno Mars

Ok, not really. I kid, I kid. But they sure did use his gorgeous face for a lot of the promo that was on display at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas at the third annual iHeartRadio Music Festival. No complaints here. It was also interesting and thrilling to see Bruno go from being combined with other artists on the 2011 pillar in the center of the Lobby to having his own over-sized pillar at this year's festival. You've come a long way baby. Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake were pimped out just as much throughout the hotel, with their own over-sized pillars as well.

It seemed everywhere you turned, there was Bruno's face, gazing out. In the food court, on the room keys, hanging from the ceiling, in the hallways. But again, no complaints here.

Of all the performers that night, that huge crowd was most receptive to Bruno and Justin Timberlake. The culmination of Sir Paul McCartney's fireworked set also received one of the best crowd reactions of the night. But to see the sea of people so enthralled by Bruno's performance certainly leaves the   Super Bowl  naysayers in the dust.

Catch the rebroadcast of the show on the CW September 30th and October 1st.

Bruno Mars Wins His First VMA At The 2013 MTV Video Music Awards

(AS Performance VMAs)

Last night, Bruno Mars took home his first ever MTV Video Music Award. But he did it in a big way. You see, he left with not one, but TWO VMAs! The second most awards won by a performer that night (Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis won 3 each). Not bad for a first timer. He won Best Male Video for "Locked Out Of Heaven" and Best Choreography for "Treasure." Congratulations to Bruno and the Hooligans.

Not only did he take home two awards, but he also gave a spectacular firey lazer beaming performance of "Gorilla." This was the first televised live performance of "Gorilla."

I'm not quite sure which was more special. The fact that he won for the first time or that he brought his father Peter Hernandez as his "date." I'm sure it had to be a pretty special moment to have his dad there with him for such a special achievement. Probably even more so after   losing his mother.

I think the sentiment was captured with this tweet/instagram from his sisters group   The Lylas. "There are no words to express how proud we are of this moment and the award has nothing to do with it..."

Check out his acceptance speech and the first televised performance of "Gorilla" below.

Check him out in the press room after winning those awards.

Ed Sheeran Sings With Bruno Mars On Moonshine Jungle Tour

(Concert Performance)

Did we ever think this was gonna happen?? Many a wish came true last night when Ed Sheeran joined Bruno Mars on stage at the St. Louis stop of the Moonshine Jungle Tour. Bruno shared this photo of himself, Ellie Goulding, and Ed together backstage.

On the video below, Ed sings "A-Team," with Bruno joining in on the chorus singing "For angels to fly" and harmonizing on "under the upper hand, goes mad for a couple grams." The two then go into Bruno Mars' "Nothin On You."

I bet most people wish this had happened when the tour was in their city. I know I do. Sigh... oh you people of St. Louis are just so lucky!

Bruno Mars Shows Off His Talents On The Drums In Los Angeles

(Concert Performance)

If you've been to any of the stops on the Moonshine Jungle Tour, you've seen   Bruno Mars show off his drumming skills during his drum solo in the show. Here's a pretty cool video of his drum solo during the Los Angeles stop at the Staples Center 7/27-7/28/2013.

And don't forget to keep   voting for Bruno to win at the VMAs.

Bruno Mars 70s Funk Mashup At Staples Center

(Concert Performance)

Bruno Mars seems to really be a fan of rapper Trinidad James' "All Gold Everything," as he's been seen rapping some of the lyrics during his behind the scenes footage for the   GQ cover shoot. Russel Simmons'   Global Grind   even did a post back in April, alluding to the resemblance of Bruno's   Rolling Stone cover to Trinidad James' fashion in his "All Gold Everything" music video.

It was solidified even more when he performed to the sold-out crowd at the Staples Center on July 28th, one of the stops on his Moonshine Jungle World Tour. Towards the end of the show, he performed an amazing mashup of funk songs from the 70s to his own "Money Make Her Smile." It was an incredible fusion of soul, funk, hip hop, and pop. "Don't believe me just watch!"

Bruno Mars Drum Solo In Philadelphia

(Concert Performance)

The second stop on Bruno Mars' Moonshine Jungle World Tour was Philadelphia on June 24th. Check out his awesome drum solo!!

Bruno Mars Opens His Moonshine Jungle World Tour

(Concert Performance)

June 22nd 2013 was the day. Bruno Mars and company opened the Moonshine Jungle World Tour with their first show last night in Washington D.C. at the Verizon Center.

Fresh off rehearsals for the tour in Cincinnati Ohio, Bruno was spotted arriving at the D.C. airport several days ago.

For this tour, Bruno will be  outfitted by Dolce & Gabbana,  who have provided several of his stylish performance suits in the past. Check out this photo of the Hooligan band prior to the show, wearing the infamous red suits. Click the instagram link in the tweet to view the photo.

And what's the merch looking like for this tour? Well for starters, that adorable plush gorilla that Bruno tweeted. And here's a photo of one of the   workers working at the merchandise table/counter.

I won't be posting videos of the performances, but here are a few photos and vids that the supporting act (Fitz & The Tantrums), crew members etc shared via social media. Click the links in the tweets to view the photo/vids.

And for your reading enjoyment,   USA Today,   and   The Washington Post   did reviews of the show. As always, you can probably find videos of the performances on YouTube. Looks like this is of course turning out to be one hell of a tour! Gone are the days of seeing Bruno for only $20, with no backdrops, fire, glitter, or confetti. But with or without it, he's always gonna put on a great show.

Bruno Mars Performs At The 2013 Billboard Music Awards

(AS Performance Other _)

Although Bruno Mars made it to the finals for the first ever   Billboard Milestone Award, Justin Bieber ended up taking the award home on Sunday night May 19th, 2013.

However, that didn't stop Bruno from showing up and putting on a bedazzling performance. Equipped with disco balls, flashy gold lights, shiny red Gucci suits, groovin' dance moves, and let us not forget the gold chains, the performance was befit for his 70's-esque new single "Treasure."

Bruno Mars Plays Private Concert At EMC World 2013

(Special Event Performance _)

Bruno Mars played a phenomenal show tonight (May 8th, 2013) at EMC World 2013 in Las Vegas at The Venetian. Last year Maroon 5 played. It was called a "private" concert, but I'd hardly call it that with the amount of people that were there.

I found it quite ironic for Bruno to be playing at a technology conference of all things. Why? Because most big Bruno fans know that he's not so good with technology, as he himself has joked in the past. Nonetheless of course he put on a great show. As I've been to so many shows and have been following Bruno for a while now, it was refreshing to hear the opinions of others around me, many of whom were not accustomed to seeing Bruno perform live.

Since Bruno was overly adamant about cell phone recording, I decided not to record this one. Not to mention the fact that there were 50 million other people recording so I'm sure it will be up everywhere on YouTube if you'd like to see video. Instead, I thought it befitting to post a few twitter reactions.

Check out a few photos from the concert by clicking the flickr link in the tweet below. You may not find it intriguing but I think it's refreshing to see some of the reactions below. I think it's safe to say Bruno Mars has gained some fans after tonight's show.

Bruno Mars Performs At Samsung Launch Event

(Special Event Performance _)

I hope all you New York Hooligans were able to go to the Samsung Experience Shop launch event that was   posted previously. If not, the good folks over at Samsung posted some high quality photos from the event, which they shared via twitter. Click the link in the tweet to see the photos.

Bruno Mars Throws Hat At Dubai Concert

(Concert Performance Other Country _)

Bruno Mars performed his first ever   concert in the Middle East April 12th, 2013  at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre. Performing to a sold out crowd, his setlist included his old as well as new songs. Check out a short clip of his "Locked Out Of Heaven" performance below. In the clip, Bruno takes his fedora off and throws it to the crowd. So what happened to the hat? Who was the lucky person that caught it? Check out the pics/tweets below to see.

Many people took to twitter during and after the concert with glowing reviews and nice pics. Here are a couple...

Bruno Mars Performs At The 2013 Logie Awards

(AS Performance Other Australia _)

Bruno Mars performed "Locked Out Of Heaven" at the 2013 TV Week Logie Awards in Australia. The Logie Awards are "the Australian television industry awards," which would be similar to the Emmy Awards in the United States. Why are they called the Logies? They were named after the Scottish inventor of televsion, John Logie Baird.

In case you missed it, check out video of the performance and interview, as well as tweets and a few pics (click the links in the tweet to see the photos).

Bruno Mars Interview And Performance On The Jonathan Ross Show

(2013 TV/Other Interview Miscellaneous Performance Europe _)

Bruno Mars sat down with Jonathan Ross for an interview and performance on The Jonathan Ross Show. They recalled their previous encounter, when Bruno was only 4 years old. You can find more of that old interview on   my other post.  Otherwise, you can see the current full interview and performance of "When I Was Your Man" below.

Bruno Mars Performs On Wetten, Dass..?

(Miscellaneous Performance Europe _)

While in Germany, Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake appeared on the German TV show "Wetten, Dass..?" (which means "wanna bet that..?"). Though the two didn't perform together, check out Bruno's interview where he talks about running into Justin, what to expect at his   Moonshine Jungle World Tour,  and where he is going in the future. It would be nice to know what is going through the minds of these interviewers when Bruno answers their questions because this one is hilarious. Check it out for yourself.

Bruno Mars Sting Rihanna Ziggy And Damien Marley Steal The Show At The 2013 Grammy Awards

(AS Performance Grammys _)

Ah The Grammys...sigh. Where do I even begin? I'll start with this photo of the stage I took right before the show started. I had the pleasure of attending The Grammys this year. The performance & tribute by Bruno, Rihanna, Ziggy and Damien Marley was hands down the best performance of the night. The Hooligan band sounded absolutely incredible ringing throughout the Staples Center. Not to mention the smooth vocals of Sting and Bruno. You could literally feel the energy through the whole crowd. Hearing Ziggy Marley's voice as he joined Rihanna for "Could You Be Loved" brought smiles to everyone's faces (just like Frank Ocean as the camera panned to him) and you could feel the love in the room and Bob Marley's spirit. When Damien Marley took the stage (with dreads that practically touch the floor), the energy meter jumped up 10 levels! All this is pretty evident in a live tweet below from DJ/Producer   Steve Aoki   who was also singing along while Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose danced along. Turn up the volume to feel the love!
