Dwayne Dugger And James King Interview With Cannonball

In my last post,  members of Bruno Mars' band visited Cannonball Musical Instruments. Seems they also did an interview while they were in Utah, one of the stops of the Moonshine Jungle Tour. Members Of Bruno Mars Band Visit Cannonball

Want to know where some of Bruno Mars' Hooligans get their instruments? Well, Dwayne Dugger II aka Duggy X and James King aka Jimmy King stopped by Cannonball Musical Instruments in Utah. The group is currently on the Utah stop of the Moonshine Jungle Tour, with a show at Maverik Center tonight.

Cannonball, presumably named after famous jazz alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley, shared a photo of the two via facebook and twitter. Click the fb link in the tweet to see the photo.


Trumpeter James King is a   featured artist on their website. Saxophonist Dwayne Dugger II is   listed as an artist on their website as well.

Eric Hernandez Shows Off His X14 Drumhead

A while back, Eric Hernandez, Bruno Mars' drummer brother, showed off his x14 drumhead from   Remo. Check it out in the video below. If you listen closely, you can faintly hear Bruno in the background singing "Liquor Store Blues."

Recall that Eric also   stopped by Remo   back in February around Grammy time.

Philip Lawrence To Perform Hometown Concert

Bruno Mars' right hand man and 1/3 of the Smeezingtons, Philip Lawrence, is set to perform a concert on September 14, 2013 in Evansville Indiana. He'll be performing songs from his latest solo/debut album   Letters I Never Sent.  Want more details? Check out this video from the man himself.

Bruno Mars And His Hooligans Stop By The Waffle House

During their Ohio leg of The Moonshine Jungle World Tour, Bruno Mars and the Hooligans stopped off at The Waffle House to enjoy some good eats. It was Bruno's brother/drummer Eric Hernandez's first time at the eatery according to  Eric's instagaram.   I'd say they enjoyed it based on  Jamareo's instagram   "Best stop ever on tour!" Philip Lawrence Set To Release Solo Album

As one-third of the Smeezingtons (Bruno Mars, Ari Levine, Philip Lawrence) and part of the Hooligan band, Philip Lawrence is set to release a debut solo album entitled Letters I Should Have Sent on June 11th, 2013 on Atlantic Records.

Phil recently did an interview with   Music Connection magazine.   You can check out the   interview/article on their website.

James King Featured On 21st Century Brass

Bruno Mars' trumpeter James King currently has an interview featured on 21stCenturyBrass.com, an online magazine. How did he come to join the Hooligan band?
"Well the horn section was put together by Kenneth Whalum III. I knew him from school (Morehouse College) and he saw how I was developing. From there when he received the phone call it was a simple as calling us and placing us in this position."

While Bruno Mars and his Hooligan Band are in Los Angeles, trombonist Kameron Whalum shared a short keek video clip of their rehearsals.   (Click the link in the tweet to see the video.)  They are rehearsing the song "Natalie," but what are they rehearsing for?   Well they have several appearances coming up shortly both here in LA and in Las Vegas, including the Billboard Music Awards.   Could we possibly be seeing the television debut of "Natalie?"  Too soon to tell but it would certainly be on my wish list!

Kameron Whalum Reflects On Performing At The 2013 Grammys With Bruno Mars

Jokingly named the choreographer for the Hooligan band, Kameron Whalum is the trombonist in the Hooligan band. But did you know he comes from a long line of talented musicians? For starters, his uncle is legendary jazz musician/saxophonist   Kirk Whalum.   How many of you knew that when he first joined the band?
